Lock SBE stable construction brochure

As a competence platform and innovation driver, Lock Antriebstechnik GmbH stands for premium quality positioning solutions. With LOCK SBE, the company has created a very special, all-encompassing, digital solution.

What does SBE stand for?

Barn climate, lighting, fans – there are many technical devices on a farm and they need to be constantly monitored. Since these are often stand-alone solutions from different manufacturers, this often means that each device also needs its own control system.

The SBE system from Lock Antriebstechnik GmbH now brings together a large number of such components for the first time in a cross-industry modular solution with great potential for expansion. It uses a large number of sensors to monitor current environmental conditions in buildings. Ventilation systems, lighting, fans and humidification in the stable are available as bricks and can be controlled regardless of location and platform using the LOCK SBE app on a PC, smartphone or tablet. The system is able to act independently or provide recommendations for manual operation.

Our customer's requirement was to develop a communication medium - initially - in the form of a brochure that shows the possibilities of how the app works on the farm and what advantages it offers the farmer.

The brochure should be designed in an eye-catching format and different from the classic Lock CD.

This also included the development of a key visual that brings the digital world into harmony with the animal world. Animal welfare is one of the central concerns of the Ertingen-based company and is firmly anchored in the brand's core.

The design language of the brochure is derived from the square of the Lock logo and was used as a basis for the design and placed as a tile pattern over the images in different levels of transparency.

A neutral expert commission appointed by the DLG (German Agricultural Society) has selected the winners of this year's DLG innovation competition "Innovation Award EuroTier" from a total of 150 approved innovation applications from all subject areas according to strict criteria. The jury awarded four gold and 14 silver medals.

Lock was awarded for its SBE system in the category “Digital solutions for herd management and quality assurance / Smart Farming” and, by winning the silver medal, can join the “Champions League” of the industry.

On this basis, the core brand of Lock was developed as part of a brand development process with KAOS in 2018/2019 - supplemented in 2020/2021 by the employer brand Lock.

In order to summarize all the strategy work, the booklet 'We are Lock' was developed together with KAOS to mark 175 years of Lock as a condensate of our self-image. All of these thoughts led us to the symbol, the key visual 'Danube'.
