Employer branding relaunch: Attracting skilled workers

SEW PowerSystems

As a globally active innovation driver for energy systems, headquartered in Wangen im Allgäu, SEW PowerSystems embodies engineering excellence at the highest level. To make this strength tangible digitally, we consistently aligned their online presence with our client's vision: to establish SEW PowerSystems as an independent hidden champion and a first-class employer for top talent – through authentic, user-centric communication that makes their passion for technology palpable.

The challenge

Strategy & Consulting

The goal of the relaunch was to clearly position the company as an independent, attractive employer, with 90% of the focus on employer branding. The central challenge: to transform the high technical complexity of the engineering firm into a lean, user-centric structure that intuitively guides skilled professionals to relevant job postings – all based on the NEOS CMS.

Corporate Design

Guiding principle: "The quiet force that moves the world." The digital presence deliberately distances itself from the parent company's visual identity and establishes the company as an independent entity in Wangen: small locally, but globally crucial when it matters. Since employee recruitment is the primary objective, communication focuses on authenticity and the site's deeply rooted engineering culture – "real people, not showmanship." Tone: calm, understated, proud, visionary.

The workshops yielded two key objectives: a clear differentiation from the parent company and an easy-to-maintain system for the content team. This resulted in:

  • Design & Identity: Structured corporate design with plenty of white space, Google Font Inter and shades of gray with red accents.
  • Technical implementation: Responsive, GDPR-compliant website on NEOS-CMS with intuitive UI/UX structure.
  • Content: Content strategy based on appreciative employee quotes that highlight the cultural strength of the location.

Authentic image and video concept

Photography

To authentically reflect the engineering culture, the visual concept consistently avoids stock photography. Instead, the relaunch relies on available light and the characteristic "blue style," which captures real-life work situations. To maintain objectivity, staged group shots and direct eye contact with the camera are deliberately avoided.

THE RESULT

The new, authentic website positions SEW PowerSystems as an independent “hidden champion” and sets the course for successful recruiting through target group-oriented employer branding and intuitive user guidance.

"The relaunch with KAOS was far more than just a website project for us. The challenge was clear: we wanted to showcase the unique appeal of our company even more clearly – with a strong connection to our roots as a down-to-earth development company for power electronics. This is precisely where KAOS impressed us, with clever ideas, a great deal of initiative, and a collaboration on equal footing that is rarely experienced in this form."

We particularly cherish the memories of the joint photo shoot and the meetings – it was clear that these were people who were truly passionate about their work. This has continued to be the case: the process was always clear and transparent, and maintaining our website is now straightforward and independent.
