Website relaunch

Carpentry Center Biberach

The Timber Construction Training Center in Biberach is more than just a training facility – it's a place where tradition meets innovation and the carpentry trade shapes its future. Here, knowledge isn't just imparted; a passion for a craft that shapes our built environment is ignited. As a driving force for innovation, the center propels the entire industry forward and sets new standards in modern timber construction. To solidify this digital presence and reflect its own innovative strength, a complete relaunch of the over ten-year-old website was necessary. KAOS supported the training center throughout the entire process – from the conception of a comprehensive UX design and visual development to the technical implementation in the enterprise CMS TYPO3.

Implementation

The challenge was to fundamentally modernize the technologically outdated online presence and restructure the complex range of educational offerings. The new website had to reach diverse target groups, from apprentices and skilled workers to industry partners, efficiently and intuitively. The goal was to bridge the gap between traditional craftsmanship and digital modernity and to position the center for what it is: unique, competent, and forward-looking.

The workshop

Strategy
UX concept

In a multi-stage workshop, we jointly developed the strategic goals, set priorities, and defined clear user journeys based on detailed personas.
The focus was on user guidance: We redesigned the entire information architecture from the ground up and visualized it in wireframes. The goal was optimal navigation through the diverse departments and offerings.

Digital Design

Screen design
Modular design system

As part of the screen design process, the visual brand identity was also further developed to create a harmonious overall impression. We created a flexible, modular design system that conveys the center's values. The deliberate choice of colors (Deep Green, Fresh Green) and the modern typography emphasize the connection to wood as a material while ensuring a consistent and future-proof look across all digital media.

Technical implementation

Enterprise CMS TYPO3
bilingualism
Newsletter systems

For the technical foundation, we opted for the enterprise CMS TYPO3. This process also included the complete migration of existing data from the legacy system. In parallel, we implemented essential SEO principles. Furthermore, we created the interfaces for integrating a newsletter system and laid the groundwork for an optional, password-protected area (e.g., for seminar materials).

Conclusion

The result is a digital presence that lives up to the standards of the Biberach Carpentry Centre: competent, modern and pioneering for the entire timber construction industry.

"With KAOS, we implemented a complete redesign of our website – and we are absolutely thrilled with the result and the collaboration. After an intensive, highly structured two-day workshop, the direction was clearly defined, and implementation began immediately. From the outset, the collaboration was fast, straightforward, and extremely professional. Our wishes and requirements were not only fully considered but also meaningfully enhanced by KAOS's creative and original ideas. We were particularly impressed by how individually our website was conceived and designed. KAOS understood our content and our brand and developed a modern, clear, and unique design from it. Even when faced with extraordinary challenges, they consistently found quick, well-thought-out, and solution-oriented approaches. We are more than satisfied with the result – both with the new website and with the collaborative partnership beyond it.

A clear recommendation for anyone who values reliability, speed, and genuine collaboration."
